SIP Address

Addresses
sip:9531518@localphone.com

This address allows me to provide a SIP address for people that would prefer to reach me using SIP. In this instance, the call will go to my home phone which is the same as calling either one of my home phone numbers. It also the phone that is used with my SIP Broker number.

Some SIP providers support setting SIP addresses as a speed dial. If this applies to you, and you would think you might call me on a regular basis, then I would recommend using that speed dial feature. Otherwise, you can call a PSTN telephone number I have, or my SIP Broker number. I can understand that SIP addresses are a little hard to deal with. Again, Localphone does not host any of my telephone numbers, so if something was to happen to that account, it is a matter of deleting this page.

Carriers

For the SIP address, I use LocalPhone which is evident in the SIP address. This is the only company I disclose my provider with. In turn, I use it just for a SIP address, and nothing else. There is no number associated with this provider, nor is there any special features.

Devices

The Grandstream WP825 is used to make, and receive calls. This looks like a beefy cordless phone, but this cordless phone uses a Wifi network to connect for calls. This is unlike DECT phones which uses a particular base station. Since the WP825 is a Wifi phone, it would work as long as I am connected to an Internet connected network. This could be from home, a friend’s house, or even a coffee shoppe if that is a sort of thing to do. The phone supports 2.4Ghz, or 5Ghz for Wifi connections.

The phone can also support 2 accounts, however, I could not find a way to select which line is used to make the call. This means I will likely default to line 1 when making the call. I do have 2 SIP providers, one of which I acquired in late June 2025. My numbers still remain the same.

The phone has a dual microphone system for clearer calls, and support for HD voice calls. It also has a 2000mAh battery, and Grandstream claims 8 hours of calls. There is bluetooth support, and a configurable button for various functions. In my case, I used this button to silence the microphone. There is also a 3.5mm earphone jack to make use of a wired set.

The phone has charging pins with a dedicated charger + it has a micro-USB (2.0) port for charging the phone. Either option can be used to charge, but I usually set the phone in its charging base at night before going to bed.

Conclusion

Being that my Grandstream phone does not have SIP addressing abilities with it, I would have to use my home phone carrier’s Speed Dial feature to call a SIP address. With that in mind, this carrier, and line is never used to make outgoing calls. Therefore, it is an incoming only line, and as mentioned, intended for people that would wish to call a SIP address than a phone number, or SIP Broker.
