Keyword: calls
There are two types of calls. There are incoming calls (when I receive a call), and outgoing calls (when I make a call). Both types of calls will be addressed here. As for the types of phones, there is cellular, and landline phones. They are handled the same way with no changes. With that said, there is only a logistical difference with regards to the two lines.
My [home] number will ring my home phone. This means if I am not home, I will obviously not be able to answer the phone. In which case, you would want to leave a message. My [home] and voicemail numbers have the same voicemail service, and line. My [cellular] number rings my cellular phone obviously, and likely the number I will call from.
Incoming Calls
No matter which line is called, I will either answer the call, or send it to voicemail. If the caller is unknown, or a business – I will answer with “Frank Pilone speaking“. This is intended to help you know immediately whom you are talking to. The phone numbers are exclusively mine. If the caller ID shows a person I know, I will answer with “Yes person calling?“. This is to not waste people’s time. I assume that most people have things to do, and it would seem silly to act like I don’t know who’s calling.
In the event that I don’t answer the phone call, you will go to voicemail. Both my cellular and home voicemail boxes have the exact same announcement which is “You’ve reached Frank Pilone, leave a message“. I am clear and direct to the point as I would assume that you have more important things to do than listen to a long winded announcement. In which case, you would want to leave your name, telephone number, and preferably and email address if this is a contact option. If it is unaffordable to call you, then email will be a better option. Some people will choose to send an RCS/SMS message, and that is fine too. If you do that – you would send it to the [cellular] number. From 9:30PM – 6AM (local time), I do not answer calls from unknown callers. If you are not in my contacts, you will go to voicemail.
Outgoing Calls
When calling, I will almost always call from my [cellular] phone number. This is because I have better rates of calling from the cellular phone line. However, there might be a time or two that I will call from the [home] phone number. When that happens, you would see my toll-free number as the calling number. In case you would want to know, the following countries are free for me to call via my cellular service line. Other countries will be looked up upon request.
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
If you want to make sure you get my contact information without having to worry about typing in the wrong numbers, or other information, consider going to .vcf. If there is only 1 .vcf, then your device will be prompted to download the file. Otherwise, you would get a page with all of my .vcf files as an option. This will only apply when I have multiple files.
