Numbers
+1 9144491795 (Westchester County, NY)
My voicemail number is just that – voicemail. The rationale for this number is to handle would be scammers that would get my phone number from a WHOIS lookup on my domains. If the call is important, they will leave a message, and I can make the decision to call back or not. Calls to the voicemail number will ring to the home voicemail service. When I am home, I will see an indicator light on my home phone showing I have voicemail. I can then call into the voicemail system and check my voicemail.
Carriers
I am not disclosing the carrier for the voicemail service, however it is the same carrier for my home phone. This would mean leaving a voicemail to my voicemail number will be the same as leaving a voicemail on my home phone. All such voicemails are handled by one service, and one voicemail box.
Devices
No device is used. When someone calls the voicemail number, they will go straight to the voicemail provider to where they can leave a complete message, or not. I am not going to play games, and call people that dialed me, but didn’t leave a message. If you do not leave a message, I am going to assume you aren’t interested in me contacting you.
Conclusion
The number itself is $1, but worth every penny of it. I make this number public as a just in case if someone wanted to call my voicemail, but not actually reach me. This would seem silly, but can be an option if the caller wants it. Since I no longer receive scam calls, this is well worth the $1 I spend every month for the piece of mind.
