RCS has been supported by my carrier in early April 2025. Ever since then, I have been able to have iMessage like features with other Android users running the default Messages app. If you wish to communicate via RCS, you would need to make sure that everything is properly set up on your device. Note that RCS will use data, but this data will be minimal when compared to the features and capabilities offered by RCS.
