SIP Broker

Numbers

*011-18556829751 (SIP Broker)

SIP calling is intended to allow 2 people to communicate for free, or nearly free no matter the provider. This is usually done by using a SIP Address which might be hard for someone to call if they are using a conventional phone. This is because a SIP address contains the @ symbol, and letters as well. This is much easier to do with a computer, but as with me, some people may not be using a computer SIP program to make calls.

SIP Broker helps change that situation, and intended to provide a forwarding service which should still work like one would expect. The nice thing about SIP Broker is the entire destination of the call is completely numerical (as shown above). You would want to contact your carrier’s support team in regards to SIP Broker support, and dialing. However, with this in mind and assuming the carrier supports SIP Broker, you would dial an access code followed by the above number. Some carriers will also offer a Speed Dial service. If this is provided, you might want to enter the number you would have to call to reach me as a speed dial, especially if you decide to contact me on a regular basis.

Carriers

I am no longer comfortable with disclosing my SIP carrier. With that being said, the above number is SIP Broker number, and will forward to my home phone. SIP Broker does not provide SIP services on its own accord, but essentially forwards the number that you receive from them to your SIP Address. In addition, SIP Broker has provided a prepend number with every supported carrier. This prepend number can be thought of as an area code. For example gtalk2voip.com prepend number is *018. With that said, you would dial whatever access code your provider uses for SIP Broker dialing (every carrier is different), then you would dial the *018 followed by the number assigned by gtalk2voip.com to ring the SIP device logged in with GTalk2VOIP.

Devices

SIP Broker does not offer devices, nor do you setup an account with SIP Broker on your device. Instead, SIP Broker is a SIP forwarding service. This works much like one would expect a forwarding service to work. If you would like to know more about the device that the forwarding service rings to, you can go to my Home Phone page.

Conclusion

Even though SIP Broker is not a provider, it will still serve the role it was meant to serve while keeping my SIP Provider private. I am sure someone might make an accurate guess at what my SIP Provider is, but I will not tell. The good thing about using SIP is anyone from anywhere in the world that has a SIP account can call anyone else with a SIP account for free (or so the concept). Therefore, if you have a SIP account that supports SIP Broker, you can dial the above number to ring my home phone. If I am not home, then leave a message.
