Free Calls?

There are a couple of ways you can make a free call to me. I am going to assume that you live outside of the United States. All three options I will provide will use VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). This means your phone must have an internet connection, and the appropriate app to call me on. This is essential to know as it is the only way for that free call to me. No matter what, I will NOT do video calls. If you initiate a video call, and I answer, you will get a picture of my ear, or inside my pocket the phone is located on. If I hear a speakerphone call, I will terminate the call. To me, calls are a private thing, and I shouldn’t get the public involved in my conversations. The options are as follows:

  • FaceTime
  • Signal
  • SIP Broker

Facetime

You can use my cellular telephone (+1 4126829751) as the FaceTime call you can make. While there are 2 cellular numbers listed, the other number is not an iPhone, and therefore will not support FaceTime calls. If you are not in my contacts, I will see your Apple ID as you setup. If you have no phone number associated with your Apple ID, then I will see your email ID instead. When you call, my iMac, and iPhone will both ring. Because I believe that conversations should be a private matter, I will answer with my iPhone.

Signal

Signal is a secured messaging application. It also does calls. When you wish to use Signal to make a call to me, you would use my iPhone number (+1 4126829751) to initiate the call. If I am available, I will answer the call. If not avaialble, then I would assume there is a voicemail service setup.

SIP Broker

If you are using a SIP service, and your provider supports SIP Broker, then you can call my home phone for free. This will ring my home phone, so that means I must be home to answer the call. While I could technically use a SIP client on my cellular phone, then it wouldn’t be much of a home phone, now will it. Visit the SIP Broker Page for more information.
