FaceTime is a service available on all Macs and iOS devices. FaceTime is used to provide audio and video calls to others within the ecosystem just by knowing an Apple ID address, or an associated number assigned to an iPhone. FaceTime provides a reason of why many will want to remain in the Apple Ecosystem, and the more people that are in the ecosystem, the more valuable it becomes. With that said, someone using an iPhone or a Mac PC might wish to use FaceTime to communicate with me. FaceTime calls are free, but uses your data connection. This could be a cellular plan, Wifi Hotspot, or your home network to make the call. Since data is used for the call, you would want to keep that in mind. I do NOT do video calls. If you wish to communicate using FaceTime, it must be an audio call. The advantage to that, is you are using less data.

Carriers

FaceTime is a closed loop system with Apple. However, Apple IDs always uses an email address and/or cellular phone number for identification purposes. In the case of this page, you would use my telephone number as noted above for a FaceTime call.

Devices

When you use FaceTime to call me, both my iMac, and iPhone will ring. I will not however answer with my computer as I believe that conversations should be private. Instead, I will use my iPhone to answer the call. If I don’t answer the call, you can leave a voicemail message. Since I never had a FaceTime call, I am not sure how I would go about checking my FaceTime voicemail messages, but I am sure there will be an easy to follow process for checking voicemail messages.

Conclusion

I will only answer FaceTime audio calls. In addition, I will only answer with the iPhone. If I don’t answer for whatever reason, leave a message. Once I learn how to check my FaceTime messages, I will call you back if you left a message. If you don’t leave a message, I will assume that the reason you called doesn’t warrant a call back. I will not answer with my computer as I always believe that a voice call (even FaceTime) is a personal matter, and doesn’t need to get the public involved.
